My route took a turn into Canada for a visit with Owen and Susan Dearing at their place in the little town of Riondel, British Colombia
Owen, Susan, and Drew the rescue Border Collie on the front deck at their home. Their view to the west includes Lake Kootenay and the peaks of Kokanee Glacier Park
A morning walk with Owen and Drew from their house
We took the ferry Osprey 2000 across Lake Kootenay to spend most of a day in Nelson, a much larger town than Riondel
Merchants await passengers at the ferry terminal on the West Arm of Lake Kootenay
Some sights in downtown Nelson including the local book store and El Taco where we had lunch
Owen, Drew, and I walked at Rotary Lakeside Park while Susan stocked up on groceries
The following day we visited Pilot Bay Lighthouse that can be seen from the ferry
We also explored some of the area north of Riondel including a stop at Tam-O-Shanter Creek
The time came for me to continue my journey westward and back into the US. I took the ferry out of Riondel and followed a scenic route from Nelson through northern Washington for an overnight stop near Spokane
That looks like another beautiful destination. The town of Nelson looks interesting with some beautiful murals. Did you take a look in the lighthouse - it is something that it is open for people to take a look in. Enjoy your time in the Seattle area.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, the lighthouse is open and the view is very nice! Cheers, Owen
DeleteThe fun never ends! Well, not yet...
